Love Island 2023 is looking for people from Manchester to apply for next ITV series - how to apply, criteria

Showrunners are already accepting applications for next year’s series of Love Island - and ITV are searching for singletons in Manchester.

Another brilliant, action-packed and drama-filled series of Love Island came to a close on Monday 1 August after eight weeks of re-coupling, raunchy challenges and burst-out laughter. Producers have now turned their attention to next year’s series and they’re already on the hunt for contestants, including  people from Manchester.

The dating show, which has just finished its eighth season, has become incredibly popular in the UK, with over 130 million streams on catch-up TV service ITV Hub alone. Contestants often catch the hearts of the nation, so much so that when they leave the show they gather large social media followings and brand deals.

So if you’re a singleton looking for love and fancy an all-inclusive holiday out in the mighty hot Majorca or South Africa, this opportunity could well be for you. Here is everything you need to know about how to apply for series nine of Love Island in 2023.

When is the next series of Love Island?

The exact start date and duration of the next summer season of Love Island are not yet official at the time of publication, but people in Manchester can expect it to commence towards the start of June 2023 given what has happened in the past.

ITV has also announced the return of Love Island’s winter series, which is expected to start in January 2023. The show follows a very similar concept, except islanders swap the northern hemisphere for the south, heading to South Africa.

How can people from Manchester apply for Love Island 2023?

Applications are now open for the people of Manchester to apply to enter the Love Island villa in search of the love of their lives. You must be at least 18 years of age in order to apply to be involved in the show.

For the full entry criteria, please visit the official ITV website to view the terms and conditions and privacy policy. After fulfilling those obligations, you will then need to formally apply for Love Island 2023 by filling out a ‘Contestant Application Form’.

Who won Love Island 2022, how old are they and where are they from?

After dozens of ups and downs - much like a married couple - the winners of Love Island series eight were fan favourites Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.  From Ekin-Su’s crawling on the terrace antics to the dozens of arguments in which Davide would whip up a carbonara to resolve; the pair provided heaps of drama and laughter for the nation.

Davide, who is 27 years old, hails from Rome, Italy, but moved to Manchester a few years ago. He still lives in Manchester and has spoken to Ekin-Su about showing her around the city. Ekin-Su, who is Turkish, is also 27 years old and lives in London.

Who came second in Love Island 2022, how old are they and where are they from?

Another couple who were certainly not short of drama throughout series eight of Love Island were runners-up Luca Bish and Gemma Owen. The couple are yet to make it ‘official’ but exchanged the ‘L-bomb’ about seven weeks into the show. Luca and Gemma both came into the villa at the very beginning, as they featured in all 57 episodes.

Brighton’s Luca Bish, who is 24, fell head over heels for Chester’s Gemma Owen - the 19-year-old daughter of Manchester United, Liverpool and England legend Michael Owen.
