and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Another brilliant, action-packed and drama-filled series of Love Island came to a close on Monday 1 August after eight weeks of re-coupling, raunchy challenges and burst-out laughter. Producers have now turned their attention to next year’s series and they’re already on the hunt for contestants, including people from Manchester.
The dating show, which has just finished its eighth season, has become incredibly popular in the UK, with over 130 million streams on catch-up TV service ITV Hub alone. Contestants often catch the hearts of the nation, so much so that when they leave the show they gather large social media followings and brand deals.

Who won Love Island 2022, how old are they and where are they from?
After dozens of ups and downs - much like a married couple - the winners of Love Island series eight were fan favourites Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. From Ekin-Su’s crawling on the terrace antics to the dozens of arguments in which Davide would whip up a carbonara to resolve; the pair provided heaps of drama and laughter for the nation.
Davide, who is 27 years old, hails from Rome, Italy, but moved to Manchester a few years ago. He still lives in Manchester and has spoken to Ekin-Su about showing her around the city. Ekin-Su, who is Turkish, is also 27 years old and lives in London.

Another couple who were certainly not short of drama throughout series eight of Love Island were runners-up Luca Bish and Gemma Owen. The couple are yet to make it ‘official’ but exchanged the ‘L-bomb’ about seven weeks into the show. Luca and Gemma both came into the villa at the very beginning, as they featured in all 57 episodes.
Brighton’s Luca Bish, who is 24, fell head over heels for Chester’s Gemma Owen - the 19-year-old daughter of Manchester United, Liverpool and England legend Michael Owen.
