It’s been a pretty good year for Manchester punk band Loose Articles. Opening up for Foo Fighters at Emirates Old Trafford has been followed by single releases and now, at the height of summer, their debut album ‘Scream If You Wanna Go Faster’ has been presented to the world.
The band have built up a good reputation on the Greater Manchester music scene, and the Foo Fighters gig was a dream come true for them- albeit one that was pushed back following the tragic death of Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins. They were welcomed on stage at Emirates Old Trafford with open arms, and now the hard work of a first ever album can be enjoyed.

Hide AdThe record kicks off with two songs that fans have heard already this year. ‘Mr Manager’ is a well considered and memorable song that fits this album as an opening track perfectly. It’s a song that many of us can resonate to, because few of us have gone through life without having an unpleasant boss.
‘Want’ has a smooth sound that makes you want to go as far as strutting around when enjoying it. It is one of the more low-key tunes on the record, and the first on the tracklist that was brand new on the big launch day. ‘Unpaid Intern’ sees an injection of pace to proceedings, and a hypnotic bass line and drum beat, which highlights one of the more hard-up positions people have when getting started in the world of work.
A personal favourite of this album comes towards its conclusion, in the form of ‘I’d Rather Have A Beer’. The chorus of this one is a brilliant chaos, and paints a picture of sometimes the best way to enjoy yourself is just by cracking open a beer and chilling out.

Nine songs of often fast-paced, high energy tempo and the brilliant lyrics of lead singer Natalie Wardle sew this album together seamlessly. A flurry of songs are singles that Loose Articles have released over recent months and years mean that fans old and new have something to look forward to on this album.

Ahead of the Foo Fighters gig, Natalie chatted to ManchesterWorld about the origins of the band. Through this interview, she spoke about how all the members had full time jobs, but hoped one day to have the band as the full time job. With the first record now delivered to the world and giving a peppy punk rock sound to the industry, these dreams may not be too far from becoming reality.
