'Ordinary Mancs, extraordinary stories' - Our welcome to the new Manchester World

Monday, July 22, marks the start of the new Manchester World and our mantra - ‘Ordinary Mancs, extraordinary stories’. You’ll hopefully notice we’ve had a fresh coat of paint too that’s got more than a nod to our city’s skyline. 

We’re part of that - having the best view of the city from our City Tower HQ above Piccadilly Gardens - and from here on we hope to celebrate those people that make our city, and region, the incredible place it is today. 

There are so many ordinary Mancs with extraordinary tales to tell - whether they drive your tram, run your favourite boozer or are helping run the country. 

We want to hear from you and give a voice to people in Greater Manchester. Today alone you can read what people in Ashton think about one of those people with an extraordinary story - Angela Rayner. Businesses in Stockport have also been telling us about what the Metrolink landing in their part of Greater Manchester would mean. 

You will be central to everything we do, however you digest your news. You’re currently here on our website, and it would mean a lot if you had a look around, but you might prefer our new bumper Friday newsletter that is on the way. Equally if video is your thing, why not head over to TikTok where we’ll keep you updated in a very different way. 

Whether it’s covering the city’s ongoing transformation, its world-class culture, rich heritage or two institutions that matter so much to the people of Manchester - United and City - we won’t be shy of sharing an opinion while also looking to inform and heck, maybe even entertain from time to time.
