Freight Island launches Sunday carvery that comes with unlimited melted cheese option

Summer is almost over, which means it’s time to swap the weekend barbecues for roast dinners. And what better place to do that than at Manchester’s biggest food and entertainment venue, Freight Island.

This Sunday, 3 September, Freight Island is launching a ‘Seconds’ Sunday carvery, complete with your choice of meat or vegetarian mains, accompanied by all the classic sides – which are also unlimited.

It will be available weekly from 12-8pm. Walk-ins are available, but you can also book online via the Freight Island website to avoid disappointment.

What does the carvery include?

The carvery is offered in three sizes, £11 for kids (small plate) with a choice of one main, £18 for adults (regular plate) with a choice of two mains, and £21 for XXL (massive plate) with a choice of three mains.

The menu includes roast topside Highland beef, marmalade-glazed gammon joint, roast Cheshire turkey crown, and roast squash & wild mushroom Wellington. All the trimmings are unlimited, which means you can go back as many times as you desire. These include Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, buttery mash, greens, honey-glazed carrots, petit pois, and 48-hour gravy.

If that was not enough, cheese lovers will be overjoyed to know that there is also an option for unlimited melted cheese for an extra £4. Molten hot cheese is poured onto the meal and then torched for extra melt. You can also opt for giant sharing honey-mustard pigs in blankets or sharing dish of sage and onion stuffing, both for an additional £4.

What else is happening at Freight Island this autumn?

In addition to the brand new carvery, there are a few events to look out for this autumn, starting with Oktoberfest. Running from September 28 to October 1, the food hall will be transformed into a Bavarian bierkeller with long wooden tables and traditional bunting. There will also be a live Oompah band, as well as line-up of traditional Bavarian beers, plus special Bratwurst menu.

The Bavarian beers, available from September 16, include Paulaner, Paulaner Weissbier, Lowenbrau, Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest, Flotzinger Wies’n, Marzen, Spaten Oktoberfest, Hofbräu Oktoberfest, Braybrooke Harvest Festbier, Cloudwater Oktoberfest, Newbarns Festbier, Donzoko Festbier.

There will be more information will be coming soon via the Freight Island website, but tickets will be £8 for Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and £10 for the Saturday. This includes entry to the full session, access to all exclusive beers, and a traditional German bier stein to take home.

Freight Island will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of hiphop with globally acclaimed DJ Woody on Saturday 7th October, and the Sports Bar will be showing all major sports events, including Premier League and Rugby World matches.
