Well, here’s the good news. You really don’t have to go far from the city centre by road, rail or bus to find a lovely day trip or staycation.
There are some beautiful historic market towns within an hour’s drive of Manchester that have plenty to offer whether you're coming home in time for tea or fancy a couple of nights in a nice hotel.

1. Ramsbottom

2. Hebden Bridge

3. Skipton

4. Ormskirk
Ormskirk in West Lancashire is famed for its gingerbread and has one of the oldest markets in the UK, having been granted Royal Charter in 1286 by King Edward I. There are around 100 stalls, situated around the town’s historic clocktower. Market days are Thursday and Saturday.
