Manchester is brilliant - and we’ve got everything on our doorstep. But sometimes, you just need to get away from it all for a day or two.

Well, here’s the good news. You really don’t have to go far from the city centre by road, rail or bus to find a lovely day trip or staycation.

There are some beautiful historic market towns within an hour’s drive of Manchester that have plenty to offer whether you're coming home in time for tea or fancy a couple of nights in a nice hotel.
