With most GP surgeries shut for the long weekend (15-18 April 2022), people needing help with minor ailments and illnesses are being reminded they can seek assistance, advice and over the counter medication from pharmacists.

And patients are being reminded to order any necessary repeat prescriptions in good time before their GP closes for the break.

As well as issuing prescription medicine, pharmacists can help you with cold symptoms, aches and pains, and minor infections.

Manchester Health & Care Commisioning has drawn together a list of the pharmacies open over Easter. You can view the full list below or search for your local services on the commissioning website.

Aneet Kapoor, pharmacist and chair, Greater Manchester Local Pharmacy Network said: “Pharmacists can give confidential and expert advice on everyday illnesses.

“There are lots of pharmacies open until late as well as at weekends and you don’t need an appointment. Most pharmacies also have a confidential consulting area for anyone who wants to talk in private, so it is always a good idea to think pharmacy first.”

If you need access to an urgent care centre or to check local opening hours, you can search for your local provider in Greater Manchester here.
