Many important buildings - such as former churches and historic halls - have been granted Listed status, which protects them from being demolished or altered, but sadly does not ensure they are properly maintained. As a result, many have become overrun with rot and, in some cases, are in a complete state of ruin.
From abandoned pubs to once magnificent buildings, these are some of the eyesores I would love to see restored over the next 12 months. Let me know which buildings you would like to see tackled by leaving a comment below.

5. Baguley Hall
Another Tudor building located in Wythenshawe, this Grade I listed hall is under the care of Historic England but has been left derelict, prompting local community action to secure its future. | Google

6. Theatre Royal
The Grade II listed Theatre Royal on Peter Street, one of the oldest surviving theatres in the city, has been empty for a number of years and is on the "at risk" register. | Google

7. Withy Grove Stores
Located in the Northern Quarter, this is the only survivor of its kind on the street. While the ground floor is occupied, the upper floors of the building look abandoned and in need of full restoration. | Google

8. Ancoats Hospital
This former hospital complex has been derelict for some time, with various proposals for redevelopment over the years. | Google
