The Nursery Inn pub has stood in Stockport since the 1930s - and its doors have now reopened.

The pub, which has a stunning bowling green located behind it, has reopened following a £250,000 renovation. Owned by Salford-based brewery Hydes, the pub first opened back in 1939.

The sporting significance of the pub doesn’t stop with the bowling green, home to several teams, with the building also being the first headquarters for Stockport County who once played on the site of the bowls club.  Located on Green Lane, The Nursery Inn is a big feature of the Heaton Chapel community.

Managing director of Hydes Brewery, Adam Mayers said: “The Nursery Inn is a great pub of historical and sporting significance and continues to go from strength to strength. The refurbishment is respectful of the pub’s original character and intricate features, requiring a delicate and fully considered approach from our dedicated team of design and build specialists.

“It’s great to see it reopen having undergone such a sensitive refurb, fully retaining the heritage of the building, which is very important to us and our customers. As a hugely appealing community pub, which has always been popular with local drinkers, we’re confident that customers old and new will love its welcoming look and feel.”
