Matt is Motoring Editor for NationalWorld, covering all aspects of motoring-related content including the latest car industry and consumer news, driving advice and laws, new car road tests and automotive product reviews.
One of his first motoring assignments was to transport the Rugby World Cup across Scotland in a one-off Land Rover with Scotland international Kelly Brown.
Since then he has spent eight years writing about everything from the latest electric cars coming to market and how not to crash in bad weather to what it’s like to race a £300,000 Rolls-Royce down a dark airport runway and why a 40-year-old Citroen is the perfect car to comply with London’s ULEZ rules.
Matt has worked in journalism for 20 years and writes for titles across the UK-wide National World group. Previously he was the motoring editor for iNews and The Scotsman and worked as a news reporter and sub-editor at the Edinburgh Evening News.
As well as cars and motoring, Matt writes about the latest transport news - from rail strikes and HS2 to air travel and the controversy around England’s smart motorways.
When he’s not writing about, driving or looking at pictures of cars, he actually likes tech, gaming, film and TV as well, especially if they’re car-related.
