Manchester has been voted the least polite city in the UK after data from Tripadvisor and the online database Numbeo was compared.

A new study by the language learning platform Preply has revealed the cities in the UK which seem to prioritise politeness less than others, and Manchester sadly scored the lowest. UK cities were looked at and rated out of 30, with Manchester being given a very low score of just 3.6.

Tripadvisor reviews were scanned for words such as 'friendly', 'polite', and 'fantastic', and Numbeo's data considered a city's safety index and cleanliness score.

Despite being renowned for its diversity and quirkiness, the city scored a polite score of 1.5/10 for only 15 percent of Tripadvisor reviews praising its hotels, landmarks and attractions for their politeness.

Manchester also achieved the second-lowest safety index score in the report at just 0.6/10, and the fourth-lowest cleanliness score at 1.5/10. The city came just ahead of London overall, which scored almost double at 6.6 and Sunderland, which came in at 8.6. We asked people on the streets of Manchester what they think about the city being voted the least polite in the UK.
