Woodford resident pedals to success in charity bike ride with support from homebuilder
After months of training and determination, a Woodford resident has successfully completed the Tour de France Femmes Challenge 2026.
Claire Morris took part in the 746-mile challenge, cycling through some of France's most iconic landscapes to raise money for Cure Leukaemia.

Claire, a resident at Redrow’s Woodford Garden Village, received a £1,000 donation from the homebuilder to support her fundraising efforts.
“I'm incredibly grateful to Redrow for their generous £1,000 donation. It has brought me to within less than £1,000 of my £10,000 fundraising target, which is amazing,” said Claire.
“My place on the challenge was entirely self-funded, so every penny donated goes directly to Cure Leukaemia to support the ATICUS Network. The network funds specialist research nurses and clinical trials, helping children with blood cancer access safer, kinder and more effective treatments across the UK.”
Claire took part in the challenge with 18 other women from around the world. Over nine consecutive stages the group covered more than 1,200km and climbed around 19,000 metres, including the iconic Mont Ventoux.
“I originally signed up because I wanted to mark my 40th birthday by taking on a truly demanding physical challenge. I've been cycling for around four years,” said Claire.
“Since signing up last September, I've met many people within the cycling community who have either been affected by blood cancer themselves or have supported loved ones through it. Hearing their stories has made this challenge about so much more than the cycling and has strengthened my determination to exceed my fundraising target.”
Amanda Jones, sales director at Redrow NW, said: “At Redrow we support the communities in which we build in. We were pleased to support Claire in this huge challenge. Her commitment to raising funds for a good cause while taking on such a demanding task is inspiring – congratulations Claire.”
Redrow’s Woodford Garden Village occupies the former Woodford Aerodrome site and once complete will combine 920 homes, a distinctive local centre with shops and other facilities, plus a wealth of green spaces and play areas, parks and meadow areas. A pub and primary school have already opened.
Woodford Garden Village currently has two phases on sale – Ashton Chase and Shackleton Fields – offering a mix of three, four and five-bedroom properties.
