Trafford road closures: nine for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 9pm May 12 to 5am May 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 4 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Horticulture.

• A556, from 8pm May 1 to 6am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, jct five eight - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 9pm April 17 to 5am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 westbound, junction 3 - one Lane and carriageway closure for signs erection.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A556, from 8pm May 15 to 6am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 9pm May 16 to 5am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 10 to 11 - lane closure for electrical works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 18 to 6am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm May 21 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am May 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
