Trafford road closures: nine for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Trafford's motorists will have nine road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A5103, from 8pm October 9 to 6am October 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, jct five to 9 lane closures and carriageway closure due to improvements.

• M56, from 8pm October 9 to 6am October 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 both directions J3A to J8 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 8pm October 9 to 6am October 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J9 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 6.30am to 7pm on October 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 7 slip road closures due to off network event.

• A5103, from 8pm October 16 to 6am October 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, jct seven to 5 lane closures and carriageway closure due to improvements.

• M60, from 9pm October 16 to 5am October 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 5 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• A556, from 8pm October 23 to 6am October 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions J3A to J8 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 9pm October 23 to 5am October 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 9 exit slip road Lane one closure due to works on Parkway for TfGM.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
