Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 15 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Trafford's motorists will have 15 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A556, from 8pm January 23 to 6am January 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

A5103, from 8pm January 29 to 6am January 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

A556, from 8pm December 19 2022 to 6am January 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3A to J8 - Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 6am January 31 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

A5103, from 8pm August 15 2022 to 5am February 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

A556, from 8pm January 23 to 6am February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3A to J8 - Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

M56, from 5am January 12 to 6am February 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 both directions J8 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

A5103, from 8pm January 30 to 6am February 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

M60, from 8.30pm February 1 to 5am February 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 9 to junction 12 - lane closure for barriers.

M60, from 9.30am February 2 to 3.30pm February 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 6 lane closures due to carriageway repairs.

M62, from 10pm February 2 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, jct 12 to jct 10 - lane closures for electrical works.

M60, from 8pm February 8 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 6 lane closures due to carriageway repairs.

M60, from 11pm February 9 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 9 lane closure for structure maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
