Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 14 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A556, from 8pm September 14 to 6am October 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• A5103, from 8pm September 19 to 6am October 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm September 22 to 7am October 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 to 5 lane closures due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm September 22 to 7am October 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 9pm October 3 to 6am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 6 slip road closure due to inspections/survey.

• M60, from 8pm October 4 to 6am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 eastbound and westbound, J11 to J12 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8.30pm October 4 to 5am October 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 6 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 10pm October 6 to 6am November 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 9 lane closure for structure maintenance.

• M60, from 6.30am to 4pm on October 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 7 slip road closures due to off network event.

• A556, from 8pm October 15 to 6am November 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
