Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 14 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am September 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm May 5 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 to 5 lane closures due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am November 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 9.30am August 31 to 3.30pm September 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct seven exit slip road lane one closure due to off network works.

• A556, from 8pm August 31 to 6am September 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8.30pm August 31 to 5am September 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 6 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• A5103, from 8pm September 2 to 6am September 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J5 to J8 - carriageway closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• A556, from 8pm September 7 to 6am September 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• A556, from 9pm September 7 to 5am September 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A556 northbound and southbound, lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• A5103, from 9pm September 12 to 5am September 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 6 slip road closure due to inspections/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
