Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 13 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 9am to 3pm on April 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 7 exit slip lane closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8pm April 19 to 6am April 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J9 to J8 - Lane closure for communications.

• A5103, from 8pm April 19 to 5am April 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound and southbound, Mersey Crescent to M56 - Lane closure and carriageway closure for signs.

• A5103, from 9pm April 19 to 7am April 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M62, from 10pm April 22 to 5am April 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, J12 - Eccles interchange to J10 - Croft interchange - Lane closure for communications.

• A556, from 9pm April 23 to 7am April 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to 5 lane closures and carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm April 25 to 6am April 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J6 to J9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M60, from 8.30pm April 26 to 5am April 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 6 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M56, from 9pm April 28 to 6am May 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 - five carriageway closure due to improvement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
