Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 17 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm March 5 to 5.30am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 -3 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• A5103, from midnight, March 25 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am March 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J11 to J9 - Lane closure for communications.

• A556, from 8pm March 28 to 7am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 - five lane closures due to improvements.

• M60, from 8.30pm March 29 to 5am March 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 9 to junction 10 - Lane closure for Litter Clearance.

• M60, from 8pm March 30 to 5am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J10 to J8 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm March 31 to 6am April 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J10 to J9 - Lane closure for communications.

• A556, from 8pm April 1 to 5am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A556 westbound, Little Bowden Roundabout to Bowden Roundabout - Lane closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8pm April 2 to 6am April 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 10 - 13 Lane closures due to electrical works.

• M60, from 7am to 7pm on April 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 7 slip road closures due to off network event.

• M60, from 8.30pm April 6 to 5am April 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Clock and anticlockwise, junction 5 - eight Lane closures with switching due to general maintenance works.

• A5103, from 8pm April 8 to 6am April 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8.30pm April 8 to 5am April 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 6 to 10 lane closures due to general maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
