Trafford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 13 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm March 12 to 5am March 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 9 - carriageway closure for barriers - Permanent.

• M60, from 9pm March 5 to 5.30am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 -3 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am March 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 9pm March 15 to 5am March 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 9 exit slip road Lane one closure to cover stickers for CAZ Scheme.

• M60, from 8pm March 16 to 6am March 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J6 to J9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M60, from 9pm March 17 to 6am March 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 7 - carriageway closure for communications.

• M60, from 10am March 19 to 6pm March 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 7 lane closure due to third-party works.

• A556, from 9pm March 21 to 7am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 - five carriageway closure due to improvements.

• A5103, from 8pm March 25 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm March 28 to 7am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 - five lane closures due to improvements.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
