Trafford road closures: five for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further two closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8.30pm April 6 to 5am April 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Clock and anticlockwise, junction 5 - eight Lane closures with switching due to general maintenance works.

• M60, from 8.30pm April 8 to 5am April 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 6 to 10 lane closures due to general maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
