Trafford's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am July 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

A556, from 8pm May 5 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 to 5 lane closures due to improvement works.

M56, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further two closures will begin over the next seven days:

A5103, from 8pm June 17 to 6am June 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, J21 to J20 - Lane closure and carriageway closures - Bridge works.

M60, from 8pm June 18 to 5am June 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 7 to junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
