Trafford road closures: eight for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Trafford's motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8.30pm July 29 to 5am July 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct nine - 14 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• A556, from 8pm July 24 to 6am August 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J9 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A556, from 8.30pm June 29 to 5am August 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 7 to junction 5 - lane closure for structure - maintenance.

• A5103, from 8pm May 30 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 7 to 6 - lane closures, carriageway closures and slip road closures due to carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8.30pm July 31 to 5am August 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 12 - 14 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm August 1 to 4am August 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 7 carriageway closure due to communication works.

• A556, from 9pm August 10 to 6am August 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, jct six - seven lane closure and slip road closures for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
