Trafford road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 10 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A556, from 8pm May 21 to 6am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 9pm April 17 to 5am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 westbound, junction 3 - one Lane and carriageway closure for signs erection.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am May 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm May 24 to 6am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 5 to 9 - lane closures and slip road closures for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A5103, from 8pm May 30 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 7 to 6 - lane closures, carriageway closures and slip road closures due to carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 8pm May 30 to 6am June 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 5 to 9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 10pm May 30 to 5.30am May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 9 Slip - lane closure for signs - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm June 1 to 6am June 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 5 to 9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 9pm June 5 to 5am June 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 5 entry slip lane closure due to maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
