Trafford road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 6am November 27 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8.30pm July 23 to 6am November 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, A5103 to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs on behalf of National Highways.

• A5103, from 8pm October 15 to 6am November 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am December 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A556, from 8pm October 26 to 6am December 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3A to J8 - Lane closure for improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 8pm November 21 to 6am November 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm November 26 to 6am November 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 9.30am November 28 to 3.30pm December 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct six - seven CD link lane closures due to electrical works.

• M62, from 10pm November 29 to 6am November 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 westbound, jct 12 to jct 10 - lane closures for electrical works.

• A556, from 8pm November 30 to 6am December 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 11pm December 5 to 6am December 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise J9 to J11 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
