Trafford road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Trafford's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8.30pm August 7 to 5am August 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 9 to junction 7 - Lane closure for drainage.

• M60, from 7.30am August 1 to 5am August 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 7 to 6 carriageway closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am September 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm May 5 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 to 5 lane closures due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 8pm August 8 to 6am August 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm August 11 to 6am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 5 slip road lane closure due to inspection/surveys.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am October 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M60, from 9pm August 18 to 5am August 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 8 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
