Road closures: more than a dozen for Trafford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Trafford will have 14 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8pm March 18 to 6am March 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M56, from 8pm February 18 to 6am March 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, jct six - three lane closures due to barrier scheme.

• M56, from 5am January 12 to 11pm April 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 both directions J8 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M56, from 8pm March 6 to 6am April 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 9 to junction 3 - lane closures due to improvements.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 8pm March 20 to 6am March 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm March 20 to 3am March 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 7 exit slip lane one closure witth switching due to recut signal detector.

• M56, from 8pm March 22 to 6am April 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, J3A to J8 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A556, from 8pm March 22 to 6am March 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8pm March 23 to 5am March 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct six lane closures for sign erection.

• M56, from 8pm March 25 to 6am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J8 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A5103, from 9pm March 25 to 5am March 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, J7 to J9 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M60, from 5am to 9.30am on March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 10 entry slip road lane closure due to traffic light repair.

• A556, from 8pm March 26 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
