Road closures: more than a dozen for Trafford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Trafford will have 15 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8pm January 30 to 6am February 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm January 23 to 6am February 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3A to J8 - Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M56, from 5am January 12 to 11pm February 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 both directions J8 to J5 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 6am February 25 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 8pm February 6 to 6am March 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3a to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A556, from 8pm February 13 to 6am March 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8pm February 14 to 6am February 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 both directions J10 to M62 - lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 8pm February 14 to 6am February 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 8pm February 16 to 6am February 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm February 17 to 6am February 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 7 lane closures due to carriageway repairs.

• M602, from 8pm February 17 to 5am February 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, J11 to J12 - lane closure for horticulture.

• M60, from 9pm February 20 to 5am March 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 8 - 11 lane closure and closure of slips due to general maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm February 21 to 5am February 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 10 - eight lane closure and closure of slips due to general maintenance works.

• A5103, from 8pm February 27 to 6am March 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
