Road closures: more than a dozen for Trafford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Trafford will have 16 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And 11 of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8pm May 5 to 7am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm May 5 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 to 5 lane closures due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am November 2 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further 10 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A5103, from 9pm May 16 to 7am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• A5103, from 9pm May 17 to 5am May 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 5 - eight Lanes one and two closed with closure of, junction 6 exit and CD link and junction 7 and eight exit and entry slips with ring management on, junction 8 roundabout due to general maintenance works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 18 to 7am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 6 entry slip road closure due to inspections.

• M56, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

• A556, from 8pm May 21 to 6am May 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 10 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 8.30pm May 22 to 5am May 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 9 - five Lanes one and two closed with closure of, junction 8 exit and CD link and junction 7 and six exit and entry slips with ring management on, junction 8 roundabout due to general maintenance works.

• A5103, from 8pm May 23 to 6am July 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 5 to 8 carriageway closure due to improvement works.

• M60, from 10pm May 26 to 5.30am May 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 8 - 11 lane closure and closure of slips due to general maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm May 27 to 5am May 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 10 - eight lane closure and closure of slips due to general maintenance works.

• M60, from 11pm May 28 to 5.30am May 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 9 to 12 lane closure and slip road closures due to general maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
