Road closures: a dozen for Trafford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Trafford will have 12 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that six closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8.30am March 19 to 5pm March 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to junction 6 - Hard Shoulder Only for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• M60, from 9pm March 5 to 5.30am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 -3 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M56, from 5am October 6 2021 to 6am March 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes due to improvement works.

• M56, from 9pm November 1 2020 to 6am May 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 East and westbound, junction 5 - eight Lane one closed due to SMART improvement works.

• M56, from 5am November 14 2020 to 11pm October 31 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 narrow lanes with contraflow and perm lane closure, due to improvement works.

• M56, from 4.36pm January 13 2020 to 6am January 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): No closures allowed unless 5k away between, junction 8 and M60 both directions.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A556, from 9pm March 21 to 7am March 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 - five carriageway closure due to improvements.

• A5103, from 8pm March 25 to 6am March 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, junction 8 to 5 carriageway closures due to improvement works.

• M60, from 8pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J11 to J9 - Lane closure for communications.

• A556, from 8pm March 28 to 7am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 7 - five lane closures due to improvements.

• M60, from 8pm March 30 to 5am March 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J10 to J8 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 7am to 7pm on April 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise, junction 7 slip road closures due to off network event.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
