Almost 20,000 crimes recorded in Trafford
Almost 20,000 crimes were recorded in Trafford over the last year, official police records reveal.
Greater Manchester Police recorded 19,782 offences in Trafford in the 12 months to March, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Hide AdAt 83.3 crimes per 1,000 people, that was lower than the rate across England and Wales, which stood at 89.3.
This is only the second time Greater Manchester Police have been able to supply data at community safety partnership level since its implementation of a new IT system in July 2019 – meaning no comparison to the year before is possible.
Crimes recorded in Trafford included:

Of the crimes recorded in the area over the last 12 months, 522 were sexual offences – an increase of 8% from the year before.

Hide AdMeanwhile, violent crime has soared in the area, from 5,027 to 6,715 over this period.
One of the main factors behind this increase was the rise in stalking and harassment, which rose by 38%, from 1,800 incidents to 2,484.
And theft offences rose by 30%, with 6,284 incidents recorded in the 12 months to March.
At 26.5 crimes per 1,000 people, that was slightly higher than the rate across England and Wales, which stood at 25.1.
