Tameside road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Tameside's motorists will have 11 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M60, from 9pm August 20 to 5am August 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 23 to junction 24 - lane closure for barriers.

A627(M), from 8pm August 18 to 6am August 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, one to 4 - Lane closure for Structure - New/Reconstruction.

M60, from 9pm August 21 to 5am August 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 24 exit slip road closure due to bridge examination.

M60, from 9pm August 23 to 5am August 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 24 entry slip road closure due to bridge examination.

A628, from 9.30am August 23 to 3.30pm August 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A628 westbound, at, junction with Wood Street works on footway to build new joint box.

M60, from 8.30pm June 30 to 5am October 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, junction 2 to junction 1 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

M67, from 9pm January 10 2023 to 5am February 26 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, J1a to J3 - carriageway closure for Structure - New/Reconstruction.

M67, from 8pm August 11 2023 to 6am December 27 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, one to 4 - narrow lanes for construction - bridge/structure.

M60, from 8pm March 27 2023 to 6am May 3 2026, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 - four lane closures and carriageway closures for Structure Reconstruction.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M60, from 9pm August 28 to 5am September 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 24 lane closures due to inspection works.

M60, from 8.30pm September 3 to 5am September 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 21 - 24 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
