Road closures: nine for Tameside drivers this week

Drivers in and around Tameside will have nine National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M67, from 8pm January 16 to 6am February 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, Denton island to junction 4 - carriageway closures for communications.

• M60, from 9pm December 1 2022 to 6am February 28 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 23 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• M67, from 9pm January 10 2023 to 5am February 26 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, J1a to J3 - carriageway closure for Structure - New/Reconstruction.

• M67, from 9pm August 29 2022 to 6am August 18 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 - four lane closures and carriageway closures due to bridge works.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A57, from 9pm January 23 to 6am February 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A57 eastbound and westbound, Mottram to Hattersley, carriageway and lane closures for electric works, diversion routes.

• M60, from 9pm January 23 to 5am January 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, Denton Island to Hattersley Roundabout - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M67, from 9pm January 26 to 5am January 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, between Denton Island and junction 3 lane closures and carriageway closures due to general maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm January 26 to 5am February 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J24 to J25 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

• M67, from 9pm January 28 to 5am January 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, between Denton Island and junction 3 lane closures and carriageway closures due to general maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
