Road closures: a dozen for Tameside drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Tameside will have 12 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Tameside will have 12 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

M60, from 8.30pm September 3 to 5am September 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 21 - 24 lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

M60, from 8.30pm June 30 to 5am October 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, junction 2 to junction 1 - Lane closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

M67, from 9pm January 10 2023 to 5am February 26 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, J1a to J3 - carriageway closure for Structure - New/Reconstruction.

M67, from 8pm August 11 2023 to 6am December 27 2025, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, one to 4 - narrow lanes for construction - bridge/structure.

M60, from 8pm March 27 2023 to 6am May 3 2026, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M67 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 - four lane closures and carriageway closures for Structure Reconstruction.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A628, from 9.30am September 4 to 3.30pm September 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A628 eastbound, two-way traffic signals due to works on footway outside No 84 due to works by BT.

M60, from 8.30pm September 5 to 5am September 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 22 to junction 24 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

A57, from 8pm September 12 to 6am September 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M67 eastbound, 1A to 3 - lane closure and slip road closures for communications.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
