Stockport road closures: seven for motorists to avoid this week

Stockport's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm April 20 to 5am August 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise one to 25 - carriageway closure for Structure - maintenance.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M56, from 8pm July 22 to 5am August 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• M60, from 8pm July 22 to 5am July 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 26 to junction 1 - Lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm July 23 to 6am July 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 to 4 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm July 25 to 5am August 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 1 to junction 4 - Lane closure for drainage.

• M60, from 9pm July 28 to 5am August 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 25 to junction 24 - Lane closure for drainage.

• M60, from 8pm July 29 to 6am July 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J1 to J27 - carriageway closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
