Stockport road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Stockport's motorists will have 11 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8.30pm May 6 to 5am May 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 24 to junction 27 - carriageway closure for Central Reservation.

• M56, from 8pm April 1 to 5am May 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• M60, from 9pm March 1 to 6am May 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise A34 J3 to M60 CW and ACW - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M60, from 5am April 20 to 5am May 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 3 - Lane closure for barriers - Permanent.

• M60, from 9pm April 20 to 5am August 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise one to 25 - carriageway closure for Structure - maintenance.

And a further six closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M56, from 9pm May 9 to 5am May 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 26 to junction 4 - Lane closures and carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 11pm May 9 to 6am May 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A34 northbound to M60 clockwise entry slip road closure due to network rail.

• M56, from 9pm May 10 to 5am May 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 4 to junction 26 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M56, from 9pm May 11 to 5am May 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M56, from 9pm May 13 to 5am May 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 8pm May 19 to 5am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise 24 - 26 lane closures and mainline closures due to resurfacing.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
