Stockport road closures: almost a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Stockport's motorists will have 10 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8pm July 17 to 5am July 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 27 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• M56, from 8pm July 19 to 5am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, M60A to M56 - lane closure for drainage.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 10pm July 24 to 6am July 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 3 lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 25 to 6am July 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 3 lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 26 to 6am July 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 4 exit lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 27 to 6am July 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 4 exit slip road lane closure due to bridge works.

• M56, from 8pm July 28 to 7am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• M60, from 8pm July 31 to 5am August 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 24 - 25 lane closures due to maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm August 3 to 5am August 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J27 to J27 - carriageway closure for communications.

• M60, from 9pm August 5 to 5am August 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 25 - lane closure for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
