Road closures: more than a dozen for Stockport drivers this week

Drivers in and around Stockport will have 14 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 9pm March 1 to 5am April 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise A34 J3 to M60 CW and ACW - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M60, from 5am March 1 to 5am April 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 3 entry slip road lane closures due to barrier repairs.

• M56, from 8.30pm February 27 to 6am April 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 - three lane closures and slip road closures due to barrier repairs.

• M56, from 8.30pm December 13 2021 to 6am April 9 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 - three lane closures and slip road closures due to barrier repairs.

• A5103, from 5pm January 1 to midnight, May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Manchester United home Game (3 hours after kick off).

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm March 17 to 5am March 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise 24 - 26 lane closures and mainline closures due to resurfacing.

• M60, from 9pm March 17 to 5am March 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Clock and Anticlockwise, junction 1 exit slips Lane one closures due to signage for CAZ scheme.

• M60, from 9pm March 17 to 11.59pm March 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 27 exit slip Lane one closures due to coverage of signage for CAZ scheme.

• M56, from 8pm March 19 to 6am March 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J1 to J4 - Lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm March 20 to 5am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 2 to 27 lane closures due to structure maintenance works.

• M60, from 8pm March 21 to 6am March 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J25 to J1 - Lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 9pm March 25 to 5am March 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 1 - two - carriageway closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M56, from 9pm March 28 to 5am April 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 1 to M60 Anticlockwise, junction 2 - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M60, from 9pm March 28 to 5am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise M60 CW J2 access slip to M60 CW J2 end of access slip - Lane closure for barriers.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
