Road closures: five for Stockport drivers this week

Drivers in and around Stockport will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start this week:

• M56, from 9pm October 3 to 6am October 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 1 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 8pm October 8 to 5am October 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anticlockwise, junction 27 exit slip Lane one closure due to repair of Pedestrian Hand Rail.

• M60, from 8.30pm October 14 to 5am October 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 24 to junction 27 - carriageway closure for Central Reservation.

• M56, from 9pm October 17 to 5am October 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 26 to junction 4 - Lane closures and carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 9pm October 17 to 6am October 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J1 to J24 - carriageway closure for inspection/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
