Road closures: almost a dozen for Stockport drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Stockport will have 10 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And four of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 10 closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8pm July 17 to 5am July 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 27 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• M56, from 10pm July 17 to 6am July 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link to A34 northbound, carriageway closure due to bridge works.

• M56, from 10pm July 18 to 6am July 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A34 southbound, link road to M56 westbound, carriageway closure due to bridge works.

• M56, from 8pm July 19 to 5am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, M60A to M56 - lane closure for drainage.

• M60, from 10pm July 24 to 6am July 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 3 lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 25 to 6am July 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 3 lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 26 to 6am July 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 4 exit lane closure due to railway bridge.

• M60, from 10pm July 27 to 6am July 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 4 exit slip road lane closure due to bridge works.

• M56, from 8pm July 28 to 7am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• M60, from 8pm July 31 to 5am August 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 24 - 25 lane closures due to maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
