Tens of thousands of crimes recorded in Salford
Tens of thousands of crimes were recorded in Salford over the last year, official police records reveal.
Greater Manchester Police recorded 31,291 offences in Salford in the 12 months to March, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Hide AdAt 119.1 crimes per 1,000 people, that was far higher than the rate across England and Wales, which stood at 89.3.
This is only the second time Greater Manchester Police have been able to supply data at community safety partnership level since its implementation of a new IT system in July 2019 – meaning no comparison to the year before is possible.
Crimes recorded in Salford included:

Of the crimes recorded in the area over the last 12 months, 984 were sexual offences – an increase of 17% from the year before.

Hide AdMeanwhile, violent crime has risen in the area, from 9,716 to 12,081 over this period.
One of the main factors behind this increase was the rise in stalking and harassment, which rose by 29%, from 3,458 incidents to 4,450.
And theft offences rose by 22%, with 8,430 incidents recorded in the 12 months to March.
At 32.1 crimes per 1,000 people, that was higher than the rate across England and Wales, which stood at 25.1.
