Road closures: a dozen for Salford drivers this week

Drivers in and around Salford will have 12 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A556, from 8pm March 11 to 6am March 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M61, from 8pm March 6 to 6am March 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 both directions M60 to junction 3 - lane closure for communications.

And a further 10 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A556, from 8pm March 13 to 6am March 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 9 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for Electrical works.

• M60, from 9pm March 13 to 5am March 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 16 to 15 lane closure for barrier works.

• M60, from 9pm March 15 to 8am March 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 eastbound and westbound, junction 1 - three lane closures and carriageway closures due to maintenance works.

• M62, from 8pm March 18 to 5am March 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound and westbound, junction 10 to junction 12 - Lane closure for drainage.

• M602, from 11.59pm March 18 to 5.30am March 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 westbound, J3 to J2 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M60, from 9pm March 20 to 6am April 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise J11 to J11 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• M62, from 9pm March 20 to 6am March 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M62 eastbound, junction 11 to 12 - lane closure for white lining/road markings.

• M60, from 9pm March 20 to 5am March 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 14 to junction15 - carriageway closure for barrier/fence safety repairs.

• M60, from 8pm March 23 to 6am March 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A580/M61 northbound and southbound, lane closures and slip road closures due to electrical works.

• M602, from 8pm March 25 to 5am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 eastbound, jct two - three lane closures due to structure maintenance.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
