Road closures: seven for Manchester drivers this week

Drivers in and around Manchester will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Manchester will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A5103, from 8pm August 15 2022 to 5am January 28 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

A5103, from 9pm November 14 2022 to 6am February 5 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise j24 to J5 - Lane closure for Electrical works.

M56, from 8pm January 6 to 7am February 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next seven days:

A5103, from 8pm January 9 to 6am January 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and Anticlockwise J5 to J5 - lane closure for inspection/survey.

M56, from 8pm January 14 to 5am January 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J3 to J5 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

M56, from 8pm January 17 to 5am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, - jct 3a lane closures for structures.

A5103, from 8pm January 23 to 7am May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions A5103 (A560 Altrincham Rd) to M56 Sharston Link - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
