Road closures: more than a dozen for Manchester drivers this week

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 16 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that eight closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 8.30pm October 1 to 5am October 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 1 - three - M60 clockwise jct two - six lane closures and carriageway closures due to communication works.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am October 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• M60, from 8pm August 30 to 6am October 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise M66 to J25 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 8pm August 15 to 5am November 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A5103 northbound, Palatine Rd to M60 clockwise, junction 5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

• A5103, from 8.30pm July 23 to 6am November 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, A5103 to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs on behalf of National Highways.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

And a further eight closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M56, from 9pm October 3 to 6am October 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 1 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for drainage.

• A5103, from 9pm October 3 to 6am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 6 slip road closure due to inspections/survey.

• M60, from 8pm October 5 to 5am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 3 to junction 5 - Lane closure for barriers.

• M60, from 9pm October 5 to 5am October 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 18 to junction 21 - carriageway closure for maintenance works.

• M60, from 8.30pm October 7 to 5am October 9, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 20 to junction 23 - carriageway closure for maintenance works.

• M60, from 9pm October 10 to 5am October 15, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise, junction 18 to 20 - carriageway closure for Structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm October 10 to 6am October 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 19 - 21 lane closures and carriageway closures due to road markings.

• M56, from 8pm October 15 2022 to 6am January 13 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, J3a to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
