Road closures: more than a dozen for Manchester drivers this week

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 14 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 8pm July 13 to 6am July 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 2 to 3 - Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• A5103, from 3pm to 5pm on July 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Italy vs Iceland @ The Academy Stadium - two hours before doors open.

• A5103, from 6.45pm to 8.45pm on July 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Belgium vs Iceland @ The Etihad Stadium - two hours after event.

• M56, from 8pm July 16 to 5am July 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J5 to J3A - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• A5103, from 6pm to 8pm on July 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Italy vs Belgium @ The Academy Stadium - two hours before doors open.

• M56, from 8pm July 18 to 5am July 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J3 to J5 - Lane closure for Structure - maintenance.

• A5103, from 9.45pm to 11.45pm on July 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Italy vs Belgium @ The Academy Stadium - two hours after event.

• M56, from 8pm July 22 to 5am August 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• A5103, from 8.30pm July 23 to 6am August 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound and westbound, A5103 to J5 - Lane closure for barrier/Fence Safety Repairs on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
