Road closures: more than a dozen for Manchester drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 15 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And nine of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A5103, from 11pm January 27 to 5am January 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 4 to junction 5 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• A5103, from 8pm January 8 to 5am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 both directions M56 to A5103 - lane closure for drainage.

• M60, from 8pm November 14 2023 to 6am March 2 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to 3 - lane closures and slip road closure for signs - erection on behalf of National Highways.

• A5103, from 8pm January 24 to 6am April 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 8 to junction 24 - carriageway closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8pm January 30 to 5am January 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise J24 to J25 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 8pm January 31 to 6am February 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J21 to J21 - lane closure for structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm January 31 to 6am February 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J18 to J21 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 8pm February 1 to 6am February 2, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J21 to J21 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• A663, from 8pm February 2 to 6am February 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise jct 20 to 22 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• A5103, from 9pm February 2 to 5am February 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise J5 to J5 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M56, from 8am February 5 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 3 to 7 - lane closure for communications on behalf of National Highways.

• A5103, from 8pm February 5 to 5am February 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 northbound, lane closures from Mersey Crescent to Neil Lane due to patching works.

• M60, from 9pm February 5 to 5am February 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 22 to junction 19 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• A663, from 8pm February 10 to 5am February 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A663 both directions Long Lane to Semple Way - lane closure for white lining/road markings.

• M56, from 9pm February 10 to 5am February 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, J3A to J2 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
