Road closures: more than a dozen for Manchester drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 15 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And 12 of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M60, from 8pm July 10 to 6am August 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J15 to J25 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• A5103, from 9pm June 1 to 5am August 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J24 to J8 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• M56, from 8pm July 28 to 7am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

And a further 12 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 9pm August 15 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 19 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• M60, from 9pm August 17 to 5am August 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to junction 2 - lane closure for horticulture.

• M56, from 9pm August 17 to 5am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J5 to J5 - lane closure for signs - erection.

• M60, from 8pm August 18 to 6am August 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise J20 to J21 - lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 9pm August 18 to 5am August 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 19 - 18 lane closures and slip road closures due to maintenance works.

• M60, from 5am to 9.30am on August 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anticlockwise jct 21 entry slip road closure due to traffic light repairs.

• M60, from 9pm August 20 to 5am August 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anticlockwise jct 18 - 21 lane closures and carriageway closure due to maintenance works.

• M56, from 9pm August 20 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

• A5103, from 8.30pm August 21 to 5am September 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 3 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for construction - bridge/structure.

• M60, from 9pm August 21 to 5am August 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 Anticlockwise, junction 24 exit slip road closure due to bridge examination.

• M60, from 8.30pm August 22 to 5am August 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 22 to junction 19 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• A663, from 8.30pm August 24 to 5am August 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to junction 22 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
