Road closures: almost two dozen for Manchester drivers this week

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 20 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And 13 of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 11 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M56, from 8pm April 1 to 5am May 14, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

• M60, from 9pm January 28 to 5am May 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise J21 to J22 - carriageway closure for Construction - Bridge/Structure.

• M60, from 8pm March 7 to 6am May 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to 3 lane closures and slip road closure due to barrier repairs.

• M60, from 9pm March 1 to 6am May 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise and anti-clockwise A34 J3 to M60 CW and ACW - carriageway closure for barriers.

• M60, from 5am April 20 to 5am May 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 3 - Lane closure for barriers - Permanent.

• A5103, from 9pm January 1 to 11pm May 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Manchester City Embargo - two hours before game.

• A5103, from midday, January 1 to 11pm May 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Manchester City Embargo = two hours after game.

• M60, from 5am March 12 to 5am October 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 20 - 21 Permanent narrow lanes due to barrier works.

• M60, from 8pm March 14 to 5am October 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 18 - 21 Lane closures for barrier Scheme works.

• M56, from 1pm January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, A5103 to J3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure - maintenance.

• M56, from midday, January 4 to 11.59pm December 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3A - Hard Shoulder Only for Structure maintenance.

And a further nine closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M60, from 11pm May 9 to 6am May 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A34 northbound to M60 clockwise entry slip road closure due to network rail.

• M56, from 9pm May 11 to 5am May 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• M60, from 9pm May 12 to 5am May 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 1 - five lane closures and carriageway closures for Horticultural works.

• M60, from 9pm May 12 to 7am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anticlockwise 19 exit slip road closure due to resurfacing.

• A5103, from 9pm May 15 to 5am May 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 4 to junction 6 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• A5103, from 9pm May 16 to 5am May 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for Horticulture (Cutting and Planting).

• A5103, from 8pm May 18 to 7am May 21, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 6 entry slip road closure due to inspections.

• M60, from 8pm May 19 to 5am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise 24 - 26 lane closures and mainline closures due to resurfacing.

• M56, from 8pm May 20 to 6am September 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 a to 8 lane closures due to improvement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
