Road closures: almost a dozen for Manchester drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 11 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Manchester will have 11 National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that nine closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A663, from 8.30pm August 24 to 5am August 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to junction 22 - carriageway closure for horticulture.

A5103, from 9pm June 1 to 5am August 31, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions J24 to J8 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

M56, from 8pm July 28 to 7am September 4, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, link road closure to A34 northbound, due to gas works.

A5103, from 8.30pm August 21 to 5am September 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 both directions, junction 3 to junction 4 - carriageway closure for construction - bridge/structure.

M56, from 9pm August 20 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 5 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

A5103, from 8pm July 31 to 5am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 both directions M56 to A5103 - lane closure for drainage.

M60, from 9pm August 15 to 5am September 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 19 - carriageway closure for electrical works.

M56, from 9pm August 17 to 5am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 eastbound, J5 to J5 - lane closure for signs - erection.

A5103, from 9am August 18 to 6am October 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M56 westbound, junction 3 to 4 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M60, from 9pm August 29 to 5am August 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 6 to junction 5 - lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
