Manchester road closures: six for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Manchester's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Manchester's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And five of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A5103, from 8pm January 8 to 5am March 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A5103 both directions M56 to A5103 - lane closure for drainage.

M60, from 8pm November 14 2023 to 6am March 2 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 20 to 3 - lane closures and slip road closure for signs - erection on behalf of National Highways.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

M56, from 8pm January 19 to 5am January 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, J3 to J1 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

M56, from 9pm January 21 to 5am January 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M56 eastbound, J3A to J2 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

M60, from 9pm January 22 to 5am January 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise J20 to J19 - lane closures and slip road closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

M60, from 9pm January 26 to 5am January 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 22 to junction 19 - carriageway closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
